Gigerpunk
A few notes:
Gigerpunk is based on 2 of my long time favourite things, the movie Blade Runner and the Biomechanical art of H R Giger. A year or so back it came to me that I might be able to fuse them together in one City. I was surprised it worked as well as it did. I have often been asked about Role Play in the city. I co ran many role play sims for about 8 years in SL so I have some idea what it is like. It is a lot of hard work and people management. This has always put me off. But just recently with the advent of AI I found that me, with out a scripting bone or brain cell in my body , could now script stuff. Anyway, this is the result of some weeks of work getting it all together. I hope you enjoy it , if not I did anyway :)
No police!
It is my experience that putting a police force in a sim does one thing, it unites all other factions against that group. So I have avoided that and instead you have Tracers, like blade runners, and Sec-Ops, hired mercenaries. The story goes that the Ascendants who run the city stopped paying the Police force which often worked against them, now if they need anything done they will employ a Sec-Op or a team of Sec-Ops.
Bellow is a transgressive intro to the city.
The City Never Sleeps
This place does not pretend innocence, it proclaims its appetite in blinding neon.
Towers blaze with phosphor and fire, striping the storm with crimson and violet, luring the weary and the wicked alike. Between them, vast ribs of black alloy brace the buildings against one another, as though the city has grown a second skeleton to bear its own weight. The city sings to them a dark siren song: Enter, surrender, spend, expend. Its voice is the blinking shudder of holo-signs, the drone of endless inane advertisements. Its heartbeat is the thumping bass-lines that erupt out of heaving clubs, and roll through the streets like rumbling thunder. The city is not coy, it seduces with circuitry, it consumes with synthetic flesh, it mourns with acrid rain.
The city is alive, not in kindness, not in love, but in hunger. It feeds on the lives it shelters and the lives it destroys. Beneath the concrete, the buzzing signs, the endless drizzle, there is a soul. Dark, brooding and unforgiving. It hangs in the fog like a curse, seeping into every whispered deal, every tired laugh, every act of suicidal desperation. On the walls above the clinics, the same three words shine through the rain: Adapt, enhance, Evolve.
The red-light avenues throb like arteries.
Signs flicker in stuttering tongues: Cyberlove, Dream Obscene, Synthetic Skin, Flesh Deluxe. Doorways drip perverse perfumes, alleyways echo deranged laughter drenched in crimson neon. Curtains part to reveal dancers whose limbs shine with chrome and synthetic flesh, eyes burning with diode fire. Beneath translucent skin, tendons draw tight around delicate mechanisms. They twist and contort with the grace of perfect precision, and the sorrow of forgotten flesh. Each gesture a psalm to insatiable appetite, in the ugly ecstasy of the macabre dance where flesh becomes metal, metal made flesh, a communion of aching pain and groaning alloy offered up to endless night.
In the alleys, the gangs rule as priests of ruin.
Their rites are swift, blades glint, pistons hiss like hungry hogs. Guts and machina viscera spill out onto rain-slicked streets. Blood runs thin with oil, diluted in rain. The pavement drinks deeply, the city hums its approval. Those caught alone are stripped of credits, implants, anything that might buy another day. Their screams become shivering echoes that haunt the alleys and satiate the city’s sick desires. Every death feeds its pulse; every corpse is a coin in the machine’s communion bowl. Nothing here is wasted, flesh, breath, blood, sin, all eagerly absorbed.
Bars and clubs sag under the weight of their own corruption, their glass smeared with smoke and rain. Inside, creatures drink until their implants misfire, until their hands, steel or bone, shake too much to hold the greasy glass. Women of shadows, females, shemales, ladybois, bathed in neon, lean in close, their whispers priced by the minute, their touch by the second. Others offer sensations wired straight into the nerves: borrowed pleasure, borrowed tenderness, an hour without pain. Coins fall, credits flicker, and the city feeds.
And through it all, the city watches.
It does not hide what it is. It rejoices. Its alleys are chapels, its brothels sanctuaries, its clubs cathedrals of the unholy. The rain anoints, the neon crowns, the music sanctifies. There is no sin here, only commerce, the sacred rites of Mammon. The city builds its altars out of want and desperate, fetishistic desires, then gazes down with cold divinity upon its neon-shrouded temples of sex and death, and the Bacchic orgies that writhe below in its streets.
The rhythm of the requiem beats on:
Pipes hiss hymns. Engines drone dirges. Trains drag bodies of beaten steel along trembling rails. Billboards stutter deranged gospels until the bulbs blacken, and yet another sign rises like an eternal resurrection. Behind a clinic window, someone holds a new hand beneath the light and waits for its fingers to move. Across the street, someone else sells an old one for parts. And the gutters absorb the endless flow of blood, oil, tears and rain, every violent spill sucked down with the same indifferent hunger. A body is a body here, whether its grafts fail or its flesh rots. Gigerpunk City does not discriminate.
And relentlessly the rain falls.
Endless, merciless, mournful. It sluices down concrete towers like tears the city refuses to admit it weeps. It runs down skin, over chrome, along glass; it gathers in the seams where living tissue joins the manufactured bone. It baptizes every bargain, it blesses every betrayal. Pavements shine like funeral mirrors, alleys weep with electric grief, rooftops shrouded in choking smog echo with a mournful hymn that no one hears.
And still Gigerpunk City hungers.
It is appetite, it is elegy, it is cathedral and corpse. It is unforgiving. It does not relent. But it remembers. Every sigh, every scream, every final shudder of flesh or alloy, it is all folded into its liturgy of rain. The city consumes, the city watches, the city hungers, the city endures.
